The personal web site of Norwich-based author Andrew Hook, the publisher of Elastic Press. Andrew started what is now called Redwell Writers back in January 2006 but had to relinquish his role mid-2007.
Redwell member Ben has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, has completed a Writers Bureau course, has had an essay published and done a piece on BBC radio Norfolk, about 'Norfolk Lives'! He works for Break charity and has been accepted on to the MA in Social Work at the UEA.
Ben started writing in his last year at university around 10 years ago, and hasn't stopped since. He has written three books: Separation, Inspired Ramblings and on the fringes - these are all available from lulu. He is now working on a novel called Bookcase.
A regular Redwell member (when line dancing permits!), Christine will be having her first novel, Going Astray, published in late 2009. She also has another, The Stangreen Experiment, waiting in the wings.
David, who now runs the Redwell Writers group, has had 3 short stories published: Home for Christmas in the Angles anthology, Eight Excerpts from a Secret Interdimensional War (Hub magazine issue 2) and No Accident in First Edition issue 2.
He is hoping to get published in different issues other than number '2' in future!
Redwell Writers member Gordon Collins has been a mathematician, market risk analyst and computer graphics researcher. He has also organised a postcard writing competition, covered a station in luggage tags, got all the science degrees, parachuted, paraglided, ran, meditated, yogaed, reikied, tai chied, practiced a ridiculous alternative therapy at Glastonbury festival and performed a Star Trek wedding ceremony. He lives in Norwich where he is finishing his first novel "Extremely Normal" and developing a secret invention. He has been published in Riptide volume 3 and has been accepted on the UEA creative writing MA.
Gordon has also written a blog.
One thing that new writers often get wrong is their use of Apostrophes. There are several sites that attempt to teach this including wikihow, mantex and DISSC.
First Edition magazine is the home of new fiction by new writers. It encourages new writing talent to showcase their work and gives them the opportunity to have it published in the UK and across the World.
The Hub Magazine is published every week or two in PDF format.
Got at least 5 rejection slips from other literary magazines? If so then The Rejected Quarterly is probably your next step!
